This is the current central membership system for pickleball in Alberta. Here you can join Pickleball Alberta and Pickleball Canada, as well as, a club using this system. Pickleball Alberta and affiliated clubs are transitioning to a new national pickleball membership system by early June, 2021. Check out news and information regarding this change at Pickleball Alberta . When you do, your membership includes Pickleball Alberta and Pickleball Canada. Clubs that are not fully integrated in this system collect membership information and fees directly and remit to Pickleball Alberta.
Contact the club directly for membership renewal or inquiries. Links are provided to either the Club website, Facebook page or primary contact email. Check with clubs for membership sign up or inquiries. Please note that until all Alberta clubs are using the new national system, your membership information in the new system may be incomplete. Updates are underway but there is a two-to-four-week lag in this updating process.
There will be no membership sales for most clubs below from May 31 to June 7 while clubs transition to the new national system. Memberships for clubs highlighted in green below will not be affected by this transition, and will continue to be available at all times. Pickleball is a mini-tennis game that was created in 1965 to provide a sport for the entire family. I have some news and reminders for you. There is a new ladies only pickleball group Tuesday afternoons, 1:00-3:00, at Optimist Recreation Center. This group has been set up by the Huntsville Parks and Recreation Department and is open to all women. Our club trainers will be teaching pickleball lessons to beginners for the next 4-6 weeks, at various times, on the Sandra Moon courts. There will be one trainer per four beginners. The maximum number of beginners and trainers on the court at any one time should be 10 people on 2 courts, so it should make minimal impact on your play at Sandra Moon.
These new players will be trying to improve their skills in the next weeks and months. Huntsville Pickleball Club was organized and still operates under the umbrella of the Huntsvile Senior Center. The Senior Center would like us to view and share this video of how they are being affected by the Covid virus during this shut down. They mow Thursdays at Sandra Moon. Don’t park near the grass then or risk a few car dings! Please submit all artwork you’d like us to consider for the new club logo by August 20. I hope I haven’t forgotten anything. Because of extenuating circumstances, windscreens are still 2-3 weeks away. Please remember to pick up after yourselves. Water and gatorade bottles have been left behind. Even if club members didn’t leave the trash, let’s help pick up the courts and the surrounding area. Hampton Cove will not open until late October and pickleball will be scheduled once opened. The Huntsville Sports Commission is looking into scheduling pickleball tournaments in the future. I did add a follow up question asking if there is any projection when the recreation centers will be open evenings and weekends.

I have not heard back about a firm date for the Senior Center opening for pickleball. Our site reps must report attendance numbers to the Senior Center and your cooperation will make their jobs a bit easier. If the games were to be canceled a full and immediate refund for registration will be given. Pickleball events are scheduled for Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1. Registration is also open for the USAPA USA Atlantic South Regional Tournament in Foley, AL. You must be a USAPA member to play in this tournament. Middlesex County opened new recreation facilities and exercise equipment in two county parks. The additions include six new pickleball courts at Thompson Park located in Monroe Township and Jamesburg, and a new outdoor fitness circuit at William Warren Park in Woodbridge Township. Tomaro said in a prepared statement. We’re proud of our county parks and the opportunities they provide for Middlesex County residents to enjoy the outdoors. We hope that these new offerings in Thompson Park and William Warren Park will bring even more residents out to our parks. Additionally, the athletic courts at Spring Lake Park in South Plainfield have received a makeover. One of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, pickleball was created in 1965 and combines many of the elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
